Prerequisites: You already know how to use the Rigid Heddle Loom?  Are you ready for a rigid heddle weaving challenge? Interested in creating handwoven cloth that is wider than the actual weaving width of your loom? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should try double weave!  NOTE: Participants must provide their own rigid heddle loom (no minimum weaving width requirement.) The loom must be assembled and fully functional, as well as equipped for the use of two heddles, prior to the first day of class.

Class Description: In this class, you will complete two projects over three days. The first project will explore three basic double weave techniques: two-layered cloth, double-width cloth, and tubular weave. For the next project, you will use the skills you learned in the sampler to design and create a no-sew apron/tool pouch, bag, double-sided table runner, or double-width cloth. If you already have an idea or pattern for a project, let's get you started on it!

Fee: $210 for HWFA members (must have completed orientation at the time of registration) or $220 for non-members, payable by check, cash, or credit card to HWFA.
Materials fee:  $5    

Supplies brought by student: Rigid heddle loom, Double heddle block, (2) 8-dent or 10-dent heddles, (2) pickup sticks - 12-16" in length is optimal for class projects, loom stand (optional), warp separator sticks (optional), scissors, tapestry needle, pencil
