This is a beginner class. You will learn the seven basic skills needed for most basket designs:
1. Wrapping a wood handle.
2. Laying out the base with staves.
3. Incorporating a handle.
4. Twinning the base for stability.
5. “Upsetting” the basket.
6. Weaving.
7. Attaching and lashing a rim.
All advanced basket classes will require this basic class first.
Class Description: This beginners tulip basket is a taste of Spring. You know you’ve always wanted to learn how to weave a basket so jump right in!
This Spring basket features a wrapped wood handle and the finished basket is approximately 6”w x 14”l x 5”d. You will be weaving in natural and yellow reed with touches of green.
Fee: $60 for HWFA members (must have completed orientation at the time of registration) or $70 for non-members, payable by check, cash, or credit card to
HWFA.
Materials fee: $20

Materials provided by instructor or HWFA: all materials and tools are provided.
